7.1 PARKK reporting
Index
Nationwide collection of anonymous customer data takes place in the form of PARkki statistics three times a year. Delivery times are confirmed annually and they are announced, e.g. PAR in bulletins. The delivery of data mainly takes place during the first two weeks of the data collection month:
- Customer statistics for the entire previous year are delivered in January (e.g. 1 January 2018-31 December 2018)
- In May, information for a 4-month period will be provided (e.g. 1.1.2019-30.4.2019)
- In September, information will be provided for a period of 8 months (e.g. 1.1.2019-31.8.2019)
The indicated days are always the last return days. The data can therefore be submitted immediately at the beginning of the month, or even at the end of the previous statistical period, if it is known that changes will no longer be recorded.
PARkki statistics are sent at http://www.nuorisotilastot.fi/tiedonsiirto/
Before submitting the data to PARkk, it is ensured that all customers and the necessary statistical information about the customers have been recorded in the PAR system. Especially before January, you should reserve enough time for inspection activities before the last return date! Every statistic that is submitted late, that requires correction or supplementation, contributes to the delay in the completion of national statistics and the publication of youth statistics!
Creating a PARkki report
The PARkki statistics can be accessed from the Reports button on the PAR program's front page. By default, PARkki statistics contain all anonymous statistical data from the database, so opening this statistic in Excel may take longer than other functions. Before the PARkki file opens, the message "The reports have been transferred and the calculation formulas are being updated. The duration depends on the computing power of your computer. You can save the PARkki report to the location you want". Now the statistics open automatically or by clicking on the flashing Excel icon at the bottom of the screen.
PAR downloads the latest statistical bases via the network, if they are available, every time PARkki creates a report (TY statistics and ET statistics). The statistics are copied to the Statistics folder inside the PAR Program folder.
The PARkki report is saved in a location agreed upon by the organization, but somewhere other than the Statistics folder, which is intended only for the statistical bases published by the program editor. You can, for example, create a separate folder for PARkki reports inside the PAR Program folder, and name it as you wish.
Filtering and editing of statistical data
There are several tabs in the PARkki statistics, the most important of which is the PARkki page, which shows the summarized published PAR statistics for the reporting year.
Changing the application period
On the Customer statistics tab, you can change the default search times, after which the statistics are automatically updated to reflect the new search time conditions. Changing the search time changes the search time for all tabs!
When looking at the statistics from previous years, you have to remember that the statistics are always a snapshot and they change with the customer process. The transition to the new system has also affected the calculation methods, so the statistics of previous years calculated using the previous system are not (exactly) directly comparable. You can check the confirmed situation from previous years at nuorisotilastot.fi, but based on the statistics, PARkki can see e.g. five years of customer accumulation at once or just the number of new customers for the desired time period. Please note that the statistics for the entire year are not, for example, the sum of the three quarters, as customer relationships may continue from one quarter to another or end/start during them.
Data filtering
In addition to the search time, each tab in the upper left corner has other filtering options, which always work per page. By changing the values on the page (e.g. municipality, unit, customership or status) you can display different types of information about customers, the statistics are automatically updated to match the search criteria.
Unprotect the table
If you want to take a closer look at a page of the report, organize the data or copy a table to another document, select: 'Check' and there 'Remove table protection'. You can therefore modify the PARkki document to your own needs and also create new diagrams based on the tables.
